How my employee went from 0 to 2 million views on Linkedin

I wanted to be a solopreneur—forever.

I was listening to Justin Welsh’s podcast while running. And every one of my hiring trials ended up being a disaster: anger, frustration, disappointment.

But in July 2022, I received a DM on Linkedin.

That’s it. That one message started a 2-year collaboration with my closest mentee & employee.

I needed help managing my community: DMs, emails, comments…

And she did it wonderfully. Every person knowing me & my content knows Anisha.

But very few people know about the promise I made her:

“One day, we will be growing your own Linkedin.”

We started 131 days ago.

And — oh boy — we didn’t plan how well it went.

This is the story of How my employee went from 0 to 2 million views on Linkedin.

1. Her highlights

Anisha straight up went from almost 0 to 2 million impressions in 131 days.

Some of her best posts reached hundreds of thousands of people, inspiring people to start writing on Linkedin.

These are not one-time wonders, but consistent viral content building up over time.

You can read some of her comments & DMs — genuine reactions from a community relating to her mission.

Anisha & I worked hand in hand to build her brand.

How did we do it? Is it replicable?

Let’s cover every aspect that made these successes possible.

2. Her branding

The only way to start:

Who are you helping? To achieve what? Why?

First, Anisha is the kindest person I’ve met in my life.

Introverted, empathetic, keen to challenge herself to be better.

We met through Linkedin - and have been working 2 years straight since then.

She knows this platform is a chance for those who dare post there.

It was only natural to cover these topics → she wants to help you do the thing.

“What could be the simplest headline someone could write about it?”

“Well… Write your first post on Linkedin today?”

“We can hardly make it simpler, and easier to understand. Let’s go.”

A headline is a mission statement, a simple transformation you’re committed to.

The banner just rephrases it, slightly differently. It’s an extension of it:

The last thing we selected was the color.

Anisha is my mentoree - so she simply picked a softer pink than mine, with a pastel feeling.

We made it blend nicely between the banner & the profile pic to display progression from left to right.

3. Her process

Anisha covers “How to start on Linkedin?”.

Especially, how to overcome your mental blocks.

She always starts with the design.

She seeks first a design (quote, graphic, billboards) that embraces her mission - while having a high virality score.

The image right in the middle inspired her to make a post.

She went on Easygen, uploaded this image, and starting writing her first draft.

4. How can you copy her?

Anisha does not create her images.

She simply curates the images that she finds catchy & covers her mission.

That’s a simple strategy to rinse & repeat.

Let’s write a post together in 5 steps.

Step 1: The design.

I saw this tweet the other day I sent to Anisha:

Step 2: The first draft.

Go to easygen.io (the web app, at app.easygen.io) to upload the image.

That’s the (very) long topic EasyGen came up with.

Step 3: The final draft.

Now it’s time to hit “Generate” until there is something interesting.

Here’s the one I selected:

Before making it a final draft, I must edit it by clicking on “Preview” to see it on a mobile preview.

This post is now perfect: the media, the hook, the body of the post.

Step 4: Posting.

Select one moment of your day — your 1-hour of Linkedin — to do:

  1. Commenting on other people’s posts. Your favorite creators.
  2. Posting at the exact same hour every day. It’s 10 am GMT+2 for Anisha.
  3. Commenting on your own posts for the next 30 minutes.

If you have no comments to answer on your own posts, go on the feed and engage with like-minded people. Build your network brick by brick.

Step 5: Analytics.

After 48 hours, you’ll get to see if your post is an outlier:

  • Did you receive any DM from the people you want to help (most important)
  • Does it have more engagement than usual? (important)
  • Did it bring more followers than usual? (good)
  • Does it have more impressions than usual? (least important)

If it performed, check:

  1. The topic.
  2. The media chose.
  3. The hook.
  4. How you wrote the body of the post.

One of them – if not the 4 of them – was a great pick. So keep at it now!

5. The bottom line

It took us 2 years to start posting on Linkedin for Anisha.

And in less than 3 months, she grew to 13,000+ followers & 2 million views.

This is her mission: she wants you to do the same.

If you don’t start, you can’t test.

If you can’t test, you can’t fail.

If you can’t fail, you can’t succeed.

There is a time for strategies & thinking.

But most people stay stuck there: at the (over)thinking stage.

Dare to be wrong.

Dare to not be an expert.

Dare to just go out there, and write your first post on Linkedin.

If you still can’t do it, visit Anisha’s profile.

She’s committed to making you start.
